The Beauty of Unwritten Chapters!

The other day I was scrolling through Instagram reels, and I came across one that stopped me mid-scroll. It said: “One day you’ll look back and realize the best parts of your life were the ones you never posted.” That hit me. It made me think about how often we’re chasing the big milestones like graduations, weddings, promotions, birthdays; while the real magic lies in the tiny, unplanned, unwritten chapters in between.

Think about it. Remember that random road trip where the car broke down but ended up being the best memory because of the shared adventure in exploring the way out? Or those chai breaks with friends that weren’t scheduled but became therapy sessions? Or even the way Monica and Chandler’s love story in Friends wasn’t part of the script in the beginning, but became one of the most cherished storylines ever? Sometimes, the most beautiful parts of life are written in pencil, not ink.

This also makes me think about my life in London and at LSE. When I look back, it’s not just the lectures, deadlines, or planned milestones that stay with me, it’s the unwritten chapters that hold the biggest part of my heart. The late-night walks around the King's Cross station, the endless cups of hot chocolate that warmed me through the winter, the quiet yet profound conversations in the library that turned into life lessons, the potlucks and shared laughter that echoed in tiny student flats, and the shared meals where friends comforted each other in a foreign land. These weren’t scheduled, but they became the soul of my journey. They are the friendships and experiences that I will forever hold close, reminders that sometimes the best chapters of our story are the ones we never knew we were writing.

It reminds me of Forrest Gump’s words: “Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re gonna get.” We don’t get to script everything, and maybe that’s the gift. The viral Taylor Swift quote says it perfectly too: “You are the only one who gets to write the story of your life.” But here’s the twist, half the chapters write themselves when you’re not looking.

Personally, I think of the unwritten chapters in my own life: the unexpected phone call from a friend that changed my day, the long walk where I suddenly found clarity, the times I failed at something but later realized it pushed me toward a better path. These aren’t in my to-do list or planner, but they’ve shaped me more than any “5-year plan” ever could.

So this week, let’s celebrate the unwritten chapters: the messy, magical, unscripted parts of life. The laughter we didn’t plan. The lessons we didn’t expect. The memories we didn’t know we were making.

Because one day, when we look back, those may just be the pages that mean the most.
