Tiny Choices. Quiet Ripples.

Last Friday on 10th October, it was the Mental Health Day. I planned to create a meaningful post to raise more awareness about it and find ways people can take care of their mental health.

But the moment I opened Instagram, I was immediately swept away with endless notifications, reels and messages. Instead of feeling inspired, I felt drained.

And then it struck me: I wasn’t creating awareness for anyone else. I was becoming aware of my own energy. Social media, in that moment, was taking more from me than it was giving.

So I made a choice. A conscious, deliberate choice. I didn’t post. I didn’t scroll. I deleted Instagram for the day. And just like that, a small weight lifted. I felt lighter, calmer, more present. I instead spend the day being more aware of what I needed for my mental health. Touching grass. Seeing my garden flower bloom. Greeting the tiny birds that visited my courtyard and just like that I celebrated Mental Health Awareness Day by making a conscious choice.

It reminded me how quietly powerful our choices are. I realized life isn’t only shaped by big, dramatic moments. More often, it’s the tiny, deliberate decisions and choices like the pauses, the “no’s,” the conscious yes’s that determine the rhythm of our day, the flow of our energy, the direction of our lives.

Every choice sends a signal to ourselves and to the world. What do we want to feed? What do we want to grow? Like the story of the two wolves, the energy we nurture quietly expands, shaping our inner world.

It reminded me how quietly powerful our choices are. Every day, life presents us with little crossroads, opportunities that quietly ask: which wolf will you feed today? One wolf grows with fear, doubt, and comfort zones; the other thrives on courage, curiosity, and joy. It might be choosing to speak up in a meeting, taking the first step toward a new venture, or finding the courage to step away from something that no longer serves us. Each decision, no matter how small, is like feeding one wolf or the other. Over time, these choices shape not just our mood, but our energy, our mindset, and the path our life takes. The power lies in noticing these moments and consciously deciding which wolf deserves your attention.

Sometimes, saying no is just as potent as saying yes. Choosing to protect your peace, to honor your energy, to prioritize yourself: that is real power. And the beauty of it is, these choices aren’t one-time. We get to make them again and again, every single day (Not just on Mental Health Day)

So today, pause. Notice the choices before you. Which one will nourish you? Which one will drain you? Because in the end, it’s these small, intentional moments and choices that quietly shape your life.
